Fernando Villena, exhibition at The Ballinglen Arts Foundation´s Gallery. Ireland.




Fernando Villena (Bilbao 1974) graduated in Fine Arts by the University of the Basque Country in 2001, later furthering his training at the School of Visual Arts, NY, and studying a Master in Professional Painting at the University of the Basque Country.


He has exhibited his work internationally in solo exhibitions and group shows and has been a recipient of the County Council of Bizkaia´s Visual Arts Grant, Artist in residency at Bilbao Arte, Bregenz Kunsthaus (Austria), Rogaland Kunstsenter (Norway), The Birch Creek Residency (Utah), Addaya Centre D’Art Contemporani (Mallorca), Área Lugar de Proyectos (Puerto Rico) and the Ballinglen Arts Foundation (Ireland).


Fernando has given several lectures in Bilbao Arte, The Kennedy Center for International Studies, BYU, and Es Baluard, Museum of Contemporary Art, Mallorca. His work is part of the collections in different institutions such as Coca Cola Foundation, Spain, The County Council of Bizkaia, Bilbao Arte, Addaya Centre D’Art Contemporani, Elkarkidetza EPSV and here at Ballinglen Arts Museum.

This exhibition will consist of a selection artworks, monotypes, paintings and photographs from recent years, created in Ireland and abroad.
